The Main Idea
The Seven Years' War (called the French and Indian War in the colonies) lasted from 1756 to 1763, forming a struggle in early American land ownership.Superior organization and strategy allowed France and its Indian allies to dominate the first two years of the war. Both the British and the French had Native American and colonial allies. The British took overall control during the battle of Quebec and then In the Treaty of Paris, signed in 1762, a vanquished France surrendered Canada and all territorial claims east of the Mississippi River to Great Britain.
